One Microscope.

The Universal Healthcare Foundation is directing its support towards the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital neurosurgical microscope project.

A Clear Purpose. A Child Who Cannot Wait.

The Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital is home to the only dedicated paediatric neurosurgery service in sub-Saharan Africa. Children arrive there with complex and life-threatening conditions, including brain tumours, spinal abnormalities and epilepsy that cannot be controlled with medication.

The hospital’s current neurosurgical microscope is 17 years old and already seven years past its recommended service life. The Children’s Hospital Trust is raising R7.8 million to replace it.

For these children, surgery is not something that can be pushed further down a waiting list. Once diagnosed, their lives may depend on access to surgery at the right time.

Join Our Cause.

This project calls for partners who are willing to step forward and help make it possible.

The Universal Healthcare Foundation made a donation of R100 000 towards the neurosurgical microscope project.

We are now inviting healthcare funders, corporates, suppliers, healthcare providers, business partners and organisations across South Africa to help raise the remaining funds.

Donations will help the Children’s Hospital Trust move closer to replacing a new neurosurgical operating microscope at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.

100% of all donations go directly to the Children Hospital Trust.
Not a single cent is ever spent on administrative or operational expenses, ensuring your generosity directly supports the children who need it most.
