Alicia Tait – B.Psychology and LLB
Alicia, Universal Healthcare’s Director of Group Legal Affairs, Risk and Compliance, brings over 15 years of legal and healthcare industry experience to her role. As an attorney and psychology degree holder, Alicia oversees legal advisory services, contract management, and regulatory monitoring for Universal. With a deep understanding of legal matters within the medical schemes industry, Alicia’s expertise is invaluable to the Universal team.
Prior to joining Universal, she served as a legal advisor and adjudication officer for the Council for Medical Scheme for over seven years.
Dr Odwa Mazwai – MBBCh
Dr Odwa is the Managing Director of Universal Care, a fully accredited managed care organisation and subsidiary of Universal Healthcare. With a medical degree from Walter Sisulu Medical School and experience as a medical officer in the public sector, Dr Odwa has a deep understanding of healthcare reform in South Africa. He has served as a technical advisor at the National Department of Health and is passionate about equitable and sustainable healthcare. As managing director of Universal Care, Dr Odwa oversees hospital benefit management, pharmacy benefit management, disease management, oncology management, dental benefit management, and provider network management.
